2008 Portfolio Community Presentation – A Snapshot of the Nonprofit Cultural Sector in the Greater Philadelphia Region

Join us at the Michener Art Museum on Thursday, October 23rd at 8am for a special presentation of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s most recent report, the 2008 Portfolio.

A follow-up to the Cultural Alliance’s landmark 2006 Portfolio report, the 2008 Portfolio offers a compelling snapshot of the nonprofit cultural sector today and how it has changed over the last ten years.

The 2008 Portfolio provides an in-depth look at the region’s non-profit cultural sector. Based on confidential and detailed information from 281 local arts and cultural organizations, the report gives insights into a sector that draws 15 million visitors annually and is driven by a workforce of 43,000 staff and volunteers. 2008 Portfolio looks at long-term trends in the sector and interprets a wide range of data including revenue, employment, attendance, fundraising and expenses.

This community presentation is free. Continental breakfast will be provided.

“The Greater Philadelphia region has enjoyed a remarkable economic and social resurgence. Arts and culture has been at the forefront of that renaissance,” said Peggy Amsterdam, President, Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. “With the release of this report, we’re finally able to quantify the sector’s strong growth and vibrancy over the last decade.”

The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance 2008 Portfolio was made possible by PNC and the William Penn Foundation. Additional support was provided by the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation.
